ELLIPTICAL WRITING | 2023
Elliptical Writing is both a linguistic and sculptural action that explores the origins of language in a situation of radical gravity. It features two steel plates connected by an elliptical area, with movement inscriptions carved into them, allowing two performers to read and engage with the piece.
Guided by linguistic rules, the body reacts to gravity in various ways, creating physical and symbolic freedom within a heavy field. The piece blurs the boundary between form and language, shaping a spatiality of language.
Commissioned by the Grants and Commission Program Award 2020 of Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation and exhibited at Museo MARCO of Contemporary Art in Monterrey, Mexico.
